About Mas Maya

The architectural coating Mas Maya is inspired by an ancient finish discovered during a vacation in Mexico. This unique mortar, used by the Maya people for over 2000 years, captivated us with its natural beauty, versatility, and durability.

Upon returning to Spain, and with guidance from a Mexican expert, we developed a contemporary European version of this ancient legacy using locally sourced materials.

What is Mas Maya made of?

The Mas Maya Coating is primarily composed of limestone, with a small amount of white cement acting as a binder. Additionally, it contains various plant extracts that provide unique benefits:

  • Flexibility: Prevents cracking
  • Strong Adhesion: Suitable for multiple surfaces
  • Water Resistance
  • Extended Working Time: Facilitates installation

Is it natural?

Mas Maya is natural, breathable, and free of VOCs, chemicals, or additives. It regulates humidity by absorbing moisture in humid environments and releasing it when dry. This makes it ideal for homes with humidity issues and beneficial for individuals with respiratory conditions.

Versatility of Application

The exceptional adhesion of Mas Maya allows it to be applied to various surfaces without compromising performance and durability. It can be applied directly over tiles, wood, brick, and plaster, making it a cost-effective and efficient option for renovations. Its natural water-resistant property makes it perfect for bathrooms and pools.

We use Mas Maya in all areas of our properties, including interiors (floors, walls, ceilings, wooden doors, built-in furniture, bathrooms, and kitchens) and exteriors (facades, pools, and terraces). The material provides a minimalist and serene aesthetic, creating a soft, relaxing, and evocative presence.
